The brief

Hello Solar is an independently run online magazine operating out of NYC.

I produced a 3D model for Hello Solar using data from the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (Berkeley Lab) and SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory.

Launch project

Overview

The model uses an ngl framework for viewing molecular structures in web browsers. The model features the most accurate pictures to date of chemical compounds involved in photosynthesis. Data captured by the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (Berkeley Lab) and SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory.


In the model I captured and rendering of a Chlorophyll A ligand, a critical component in oxygenic photosynthesis. This molecule absorbs light within the violet, blue and red wavelengths. While just on part of a much larger and complex network of molecular compounds. The 3d model offers views of photosynthesis at the atomic level.
